How can i know what botom bracket is on my bike ?

As described in the part's "compatible", if your frame does not have ISCG tab's, you must add an adapter to fix the LIFT-MTB crank drive motor to your frame.

But for that, it is important to identify which model of bottom bracket equips your bike, so here is an article that will allow you to identify what type of bottom bracket you have.

NOTE: If you have not already done so, we advise you to read the page"COMPATIBLE?" by clicking on the button opposite:

What Bottom bracket is on my bike ?

There are two main type of bottom bracket:

BSA bb thread inside the frame
BSA bb thread inside the frame

-1- models with bearing tighted in the frame type BSA.
-1.1- with external bearings.
-1.2- with internal sealed cartridge bearings.

Press fit BB, bearings directly pressed on the frame.

-2- The models pressed in the frame type PRESS FIT.
-2.1- Type bb92 (Internal diameter 41mm most common model)
-2.2- Type PF30 (Inner diameter 46mm)
-2.3-Type BB30 (Internal diameter 42mm)

Here is how to differentiate them:

-1.1-  BSA FRAME WITH EXTERNAL CUP

For this case there is thread Inside the frame for tight the aluminium cups (red on the photo) and bearings.

The axle will be Inside the bearings.

To recognize this standard:

We see, exceed each side of the aluminium cups with the typical deisign for put the loosening tool.

BSA bb size of frame only and , size inclued cups and bearings.

Here are the typical measures of BSA BB.

- Classic BSA type frames, it is generally 68mm wide (for road) and 73mm (MTB), for a total width with a cups and bearing of approximately 96.5mm.

-Some model of downhill bike (DH) have a frame with a width of 83mm, for a total width with cups and bearing of about 111.5mm.

-Finally in some cases more rare as the fat bike this width will be 100mm, for a total width with cups and bearing about 128.5mm (measurement not shown in the illustration).

- the internal diameter of the thread will be 34.5 mm.

On the video opposite, here is how to disassemble the external BSA BB with the tool, to put the adapter type A for fix the motor LIFT MTB pedal to your frame.

-1.2- BSA thread Frame with sealed cardrige  Bottom bracket.

In this case, the frame has a thread Inside , the BB is an sealed cartridge composed by a bearing and axle.

This assembly unscrews the frame and will have to be replaced by external bearings as in the explanation 1.1 above to use the crankset supplied with the kit LIFT MTB.

The LIFT MTB bottom bracket axle will slide into the bearings.

 To recognize this standard:

We can see the typical deisign of the internal part's of the BB to come put the tool inside the frame.

Below a view of the 2 types of Tools  to disassemble the sealed BSA bb Cartridge.

Here are the typical measures of a Bottom bracket BSA.

For classic-type BSA frame, it is generally 68mm wide (road) and 73mm (mountain bike).

-Some model of downhill bike (DH) have a frame with a width of 83mm.

-Finally in some cases more rare as the fat bike this width will be 100mm (not shown in the illustration).

- the internal diameter of the thread will be 34.5 mm.

-2.1- BB92 FRAME, bottom bracket pressed Inside the frame.

In this case, the frame is threadless inside and the cups with the bearing is simply pressed into the frame.

To recognize this standard:

Here are the typical measurements of a Bottom bracket type bb92 or bb107:

- Classical BB92 type frames generally have a width of 89.5mm (for the road) and 92mm (for MTB), if we add the thickness of the bearings we arrive at 96.5mm

-Some models of descent bikes (DH) have a frame with a width of 107mm, if we add the thickness of the bearings we get to 111.5mm

-Finally in some cases more rare as the fat bike the width will be 120mm (measurement not shown in the illustration).

The inside diameter of the frame (or outer diametre cups will be 41mm).

It can change according to the frames, but generally the outer diameter of the frame at the place where the bearings are inserted is about 47mm.

The video attached, shows how to replace a pressed BB92 Bottom bracket to put the adapter type D that will fix the LIFT MTB crank drive motor on your frame.

To recognize this standard:

That is the typical measurements of a Bottom bracket type PF 30

- Classical frames type PF 30 have a width of 68mm (for road) and 73mm (in mountain bike).

-The inside diamètre of the frame (or outer cups will be 46mm).

-Although it can change according to the frames, usually the outside diameter of the frame at the place where the bearings are inserted is about 52mm.

-the interior of the frame is threadless for press the bearings Inside the frame.
